It’s now been about a month since I initially launched my project build on Vaadin, Spring and Google AppEngine. I’m currently trying to create monthly releases where I fix a few bugs and add on some functionality. I’ve also gotten a little more experience with what works and what doesn’t, so here’s a short overview of things to keep in mind when (considering) developing for Google AppEngine. Games and Oldskool Fun
Ever since I started playing Monkey Island on my iPod Touch, I’ve become more and more convinced that the mobile platform is the future of adventure games. A good adventure game has been compared with reading a book. And with reason, a good adventure game’s backbone is a brilliant story. Now we can finally, comfortably take that adventure game into our lazy recliners, away from technology and boring desks.

New Media and the World
I just purchased the two Monkey Island games that are on sale for the iPhone right now. They are currently 99 cents each. They are also brilliant adaptations, so you should get them right away. It got me thinking if and how one is to make a living out of selling 99 cent applications. It’s something I have been thinking about, but after my very rough analysis, I don’t think I’ll be choosing that career.
